The gameplay will definitely be different to the demo because I assume you would play Blake’s wife, Lynn. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and can’t wait for the whole game to be released in October this year. At some point I needed a defribillator to restart my heart but … that wasn’t necessary. The jumpscares were well crafted and had my heart rapidly beating throughout the game. To know the next sight, you need to play the game. I was creeped out but the next sight almost had me flipping my computer off the table. One side contains an altar with a latin incantation book on it, and on the other side is a huge cross. In said room was a baby manger splattered in blood. He slowly backs away into the woods and you know you’re in some crazy deep crap. What a lovely sight to come to! Walking out of the house to your right you notice a vicar staring creepily at you.
When you explore the houses, you meet people with their heads resting on the table, surrounded in a pool of their own blood. The visuals and attention to detail granted a more realistic experience and the soud effects brought me into the Outlast world. You need to navigate Blake through the dark woods in search for his wife. Their helicopter crashes and Blake and Lynn are separated. The sequel takes place in the Arizona desert where a reporter, Blake Langermann is sent with his wife, Lynn to uncover the truth of the murder of a pregnant woman, Jane Doe. Outlast is known for its brutality somewhat Christian elements like crosses, bible reading etc. Goosebumps erupted as I was introduced to disturbing sounds and imagery. The demo version of the sequel released in April and I have to admit this had my heart pounding. Outlast 2 is the sequel to Outlast (2014).
#Outlast 2 demo full
This first-person survival horror game is packed full of jumpscares, incantations and anti-Christian symbolism. Red Barrels is aiming for a fall 2016 release date, and come that time, I'm curious-and hesitant-to see what's on the other side of that cornfield.Satanism, burning crosses and little girls screaming, what more could you ask for? That’s what Outlast 2 has to offer to gamers.
#Outlast 2 demo series
It has that creeping sense of dread that put the series on the map back in 2013. It has an atmosphere that inspires paranoia. But if it's any indication of the final game, it's clear Outlast 2 is working to earn its scares. My demo lasted only 15 minutes, and I'm reluctant to spoil any of the disturbing moments and sudden jumps I found in that darkening desert town. Then the chase begins, and you sprint into a cornfield on the outskirts of town. In Outlast 2's opening moments, however, things are decidedly linear: the village gives way to a corpse-littered cellar, which leads to a haunted schoolhouse, which funnels you into the house of bloody killer with a maniacal laugh. Rooms were closed off at first, but by backtracking throughout the main floor, basement, and medical wing, the building opened up.
The first Outlast took a somewhat open approach to exploration in its decaying asylum. There's a sense of sadism involved: it might be tempting to see your pursuers, but it won't mitigate the panic that's setting in. At the press of a button, you can glance back over your shoulder, the better to glimpse whatever might be chasing you. If the demo is any indication, the game's mechanics function only to foster fear. Ignorance helps.Īside from the camera, there's not much to Outlast 2's gameplay. I turn my camera off before I can see more. A ghostly villager with a butcher knife, for instance, is a brief flash in the distance before he steps back into the darkness. What's more, the camera's zoom function highlights things I might not want to see. The ever-decreasing battery life adds a palpable tension to the already grim proceedings. This hoarding mentality seems even more necessary in Outlast 2: several times during the demo, my screen went completely back without the green tint of the camera's night vision effect. Much like in the first Outlast, this mechanic means you'll have to scavenge for batteries in toolboxes and kitchen drawers.
